2017 Fall Wine Release
2016 Riesling Rheingau Germany, $20
Upon our first sip of the 2016 Riesling things got quiet. The twilight chirps and sounds of summertime fell silent as we softly settled back in our patio chairs and looked at each other holding a chilled glass of fresh riesling. Huge smiles covered both of our faces while shaking our head to say a silent OMG Thank God this finally arrived, this riesling is incredible!
Our 2016 riesling had a longer journey this year awaiting for the Eric Story Selections import license to approve. Another gorgeous fun-loving feinherb style riesling that will please anyone. However, the extended time sitting on its lees in tank before bottling added beautiful layers of complexity over the 2015 (which was adored by many!). Like the 2016 Rosé, the vineyards are located in the Johannisberg appellation (within the Rheingau region of Germany) which grow in loess & loamy soils. A gorgeous vineyard that is certified "Sustainable Fair 'N Green".
We're super proud to offer you one of the very best values in Riesling this year. Yes - quote us on that - it's true. Impressive, juicey, distinctly Rheingau ...you are going to love it too!
2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Pickberry Vineyard
Our inaugural single vineyard 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is from the legendary Pickberry Vineyard in the Sonoma Mountain AVA. Black currant and cassis on the nose, with spicy cherry, as well as notes of bramble, Chinese five-spice, and hint of leather. There is an elegant mineral quality on the nose as well and lingering finish.
The 2015 drought played a role. The high temperatures in August and early September accelerated maturity and picking times resulting in lively acidity, moderate to low alcohol and intense aromatics for our Cabernet Sauvignon... a vintage of exceptional quality.
In the Vineyard: The Pickberry Cabernet Sauvignon grapes had enormous intensity, complexity and concentration. The Pickberry Vineyard was planted on the north side of Sonoma Mountain and it's trellising system spreads out the crop and keeps clusters small which we find makes finer wine.
In the Cellar: The hand-harvested grapes arrived to the winery at sunrise for hand sorting. After destemming the grapes then went into tank for controlled whole berry fermentation. After a slow fermentation the wine was aged in 2-4 year old French Bordeaux barrels for 21 months before bottling.
In the glass: The Cabernet Sauvignon reveals our focus on texture, structure and ageability. We are so proud of this inaugural Cabernet! This wine is supremely generous and approachable in its youth, however, we believe its elegance and power make a strong argument for cellaring over the next 10 years.
2015 Merlot, Pickberry Vineyard, Sonoma Mountain
Our 2015 single vineyard Merlot from Pickberry possesses notable purity of fruit, brilliant aromatic presence and fabulous balance. Our handwritten tasting notes covered an entire notebook page! An energetic wine filled with grilled fig on the nose with clean, bright bing cherry flavors circled with espresso, and a hint of anise in a supple, seamless style.

In the Cellar: The Merlot sang to us from the day we pressed! Treated the same as our Cabernet Sauvignon…the grapes were hand harvested by sunrise and brought to the winery for hand sorting and destemming before going into tank for a controlled fermentation. After pressing the wine is then moved to barrel for 20 months in 1-4 year old French Bordeaux barrels.
In the Glass: one word...Gorgeous!
